Municipal tax assessment 2025
You will receive one assessment notice that includes (if applicable): property taxes, garbage solid waste fee, dog tax and the settlement of the number of offers or empties of residual waste in 2024. So you can see at a glance what you have to pay to the municipality this year.
We are happy to explain the various components.
Property taxes (OZB)
The WOZ value listed on your assessment notice is the value of the home as of January 1, 2024. On average, the value of homes in the municipality of Aalten increased by approximately 4.6% compared to the previous year. The rate for the OZB has been reduced slightly. For an average home in the municipality of Aalten (WOZ value € 346,200) you pay an OZB of € 329. And that is € 7 more than last year.
Garbage tax and disposal of residual waste
The 2025 standing charge for waste collection has been increased from €101 to €129 per year.
This is because the cost of collecting and processing household waste has risen sharply in recent years. We were able to avoid large rate increases each time by using a provision. That provision is now empty, so we cannot avoid a large increase. In addition to the standing charge, you pay € 1.90 per garbage bag in the underground container and € 11.40 for emptying a container. On the assessment notice you will see how often you used the waste pass for the underground container in 2024 or how often your residual waste container was emptied (for households in the outlying area and small cores).
The rates for offering a garbage bag and emptying a container for the year 2025 have also been raised substantially to €2.45 (garbage bag), €8.50 (container 140 liters) and €14.60 (container 240 liters), respectively. You will not see the settlement of these until next year on your assessment notice.
Dog tax
In 2022, the municipality has decided to abolish the dog tax in four years. On your tax bill, if you own one or more dogs, you will see the dog tax rate reduced by 75%. Thus, as of 2026, there will be no more dog tax.
Payment
The tax assessment must be paid no later than the last due date to bank account number NL70 BNGH 0285 1142 98. You can transfer it yourself. You can also pay by direct debit. Your tax assessment will then be spread over eight months (or four months if the assessment amount does not exceed €100).
A form to authorize the municipality to automatically collect the tax assessment can be found at www.aalten.nl/machtiging. If you complete the form online, we will automatically collect the 2024 assessment from your account. You will then also benefit immediately from the extended payment terms.
