Moped Driving License
What is it?
You apply for your moped license in person at the municipality.

If you need your moped license quickly, make an urgent application. If you apply for the license before 2 p.m., you can pick it up the next business day. There is an additional charge for this.
How does it work?
You need a moped license to drive a:
- moped
- scooter
- moped
- moped
- quad
- trike and
- speed-pedelec (bicycle with electric pedal assistance with a speed of up to 45 kilometers per hour)
What to do.
You can take theory exams from 15.5 years old for the moped license. From 16 years of age, you may take driving lessons and take practical exams.
No driving lessons and driving test required
If you have a car license (driving license B) or motorcycle license (driving license A), the moped license (driving license AM) is automatically added to your license.
Moped license lost or stolen
Have you lost or had your driver's license stolen?
- Then first report this online to the RDW. For this you need DigiD.
Do you not have DigiD? Then report the loss to the municipality. - Then apply for a new driver's license at the municipality. Bring a color passport photo and valid identification.
What do I need?
- A good-looking passport photo not older than 6 months at the time of application. This passport photo meets the requirements for passport photos.
- Cash or a debit card. You pay directly at the time of application.
- When applying for your first moped license: a valid passport or identity card.
- When renewing your moped license: the moped license you already have. If this is no longer valid, please also bring a valid passport or identity card.
Moped license collection
You pick up your moped license in person at the municipality. You can make an appointment for this through our website. Do bring your old moped license with you if you have one.

How long does it take?
- You can pick up your driver's license at the municipality after about a week.
- If you made an urgent application before 2 p.m., you can pick up your driver's license the very next business day.

If you have been disqualified from driving license A or B for medical reasons, the moped license category AM does remain valid on your license.
