Moped Driving License
What is it?
You apply for your moped license in person at the municipality.

If you need your moped license quickly, you can submit an urgent application. If you apply for the license before 2 p.m., you can pick it up the next working day. There is an additional fee for this service.
How does it work?
You need a moped license to drive a:
- moped
- scooter
- moped
- moped
- quad
- trike and
- speed-pedelec (bicycle with electric pedal assistance with a speed of up to 45 kilometers per hour)
What to do.
You can take theory exams from 15.5 years old for the moped license. From 16 years of age, you may take driving lessons and take practical exams.
No driving lessons and driving test required
If you have a driver's license (license B) or motorcycle license (license A), the moped license (license AM) will automatically be added to your driver's license.
Moped license lost or stolen
Have you lost your driver's license or has it been stolen?
- Then first report this online to the RDW. For this you need DigiD.
Do you not have DigiD? Then report the loss to the municipality. - Then apply for a new driver's license at the municipality. Bring a color passport photo and valid identification with you.
What do I need?
- A good-looking passport photo not older than 6 months at the time of application. This passport photo meets the requirements for passport photos.
- Cash or a debit card. You pay directly at the time of application.
- When applying for your first moped license: a valid passport or a valid identity card.
- When renewing your moped license: the moped license you already have. If this is no longer valid, please also bring a valid passport or valid identity card.
Moped license collection
You must collect your moped license in person from the municipality. You can Make an appointment our website. Please bring your old moped license with you if you have one.

How long does it take?
- You can collect your driver's license from the municipality after about a week.
- If you have submitted an urgent application before 2 p.m., you can collect your driver's license the next working day.

If you have been disqualified from obtaining a Class A or B driver's license for medical reasons, the AM category of the moped license will remain valid on your driver's license.
