Commissioner of the King Henri Lenferink visits municipality of Aalten
Commissioner of the King in the province of Gelderland, Henri Lenferink, paid a working visit to the municipality of Aalten on Friday, January 10, 2025. During this visit, he held talks with the college and the city council and visited the National Museum of the Secret Annex.

The day began with a conversation between the Commissioner and the College of Mayor and Aldermen of Aalten. After that, Mr. Lenferink entered into conversation with a delegation from the city council. State member Inge Klein Gunnewiek was also present. During this lively and relaxed meeting various topics were discussed, such as the meeting model in Aalten, administrative relations and integrity and cooperation in the Achterhoek. Cross-border cooperation and asylum policy were also discussed.
National Hiding Museum
After the talks, the Commissioner of the King visited the National Museum of the Secret Annex in Aalten. Together with the mayor and several aldermen, he was given a tour of the renovated museum. The party was received by Gerda Brethouwer and Marijke Verschoor-Boele, who explained the future plans . They also emphasized the important role of the museum in keeping alive the stories of hiding and resistance during World War II. Very relevant given the current task of receiving refugees.
