The Achterhoek 'makes healthy ordinary'

A healthy future starts with a healthy youth. During the Week for Healthy Youth from June 10 to 14, JOGG Achterhoek, together with other JOGG municipalities throughout the Netherlands, calls attention to a future in which everyone can grow up healthy. The municipalities of Aalten, Berkelland, Bronckhorst, Montferland, Doetinchem, Oost Gelre, Oude IJsselstreek and Winterswijk are doing this by organizing the Achterhoek Water Week. In total, about 8,575 Achterhoekers participate.

Since this year, the Achterhoek municipalities have been working together under the name "JOGG Achterhoek - healthy youth, healthy future" with childcare organizations, schools and sports associations, among others, to make the physical and social living environment of children and youth healthier. At present, the healthy choice is not always the easy one, and it should be. With the JOGG approach we are working on a structural change.

Water Week

During the Week for Healthy Youth, we organize various activities together with our partners, to call attention to a future in which everyone can grow up healthy. In the Week for Healthy Youth, the Achterhoek Water Week starts. During the Water Week, participants drink water for 7 days together with family, colleagues, teammates or classmates. Among the participants are 20 schools, 18 childcare locations, 3 sports associations and 21 companies.

National Outdoor Play Day

Furthermore, National Outdoor Play Day will also take place during the week, on Wednesday, June 11. In several places in the Achterhoek, activities will be organized and children can play outside all afternoon. At the activities in Doetinchem (petting zoo Kokiezier) and Zelhem (sports hall De Pol), JOGG ambassador, dancer and actor Juvat Westendorp will pay a visit. He will dance with the children in the afternoon and of course a delicious glass of water is on the menu.
