Municipality of Aalten starts drafting new environmental vision
In September, the municipality of Aalten will start developing a new environmental vision for the entire municipality. The municipality considers it important to do this together with its residents, entrepreneurs, and interest groups.
The environmental vision provides direction for the future development of the municipality of Aalten. The vision covers various topics such as housing, traffic, nature, water, construction, economy, and agriculture. But it also covers quality of life, safety, and health. The vision describes the opportunities, tasks, and challenges facing the municipality. Think, for example, of how we want to live in the future, how we want to age healthily, how our children can play carefree, and how we travel.
Area-based approach
The municipality is not developing its environmental vision behind a desk, but wants to do so together with its residents, entrepreneurs, and interest groups. Alderman Groters: "The knowledge about the municipality of Aalten lies mainly with our residents, who know their living environment well. We want to incorporate that knowledge when drawing up our environmental vision. Residents, young and old, now have the opportunity to indicate what they consider important for the future. So I say: make yourself heard and get involved!"
The municipality of Aalten has opted for an area-based approach. In consultation with interest groups, among others, twelve (sub)areas have been identified. Between September 2023 and March 2025, three discussions will be held in each area. Once all the discussions have been completed, it will be up to the municipal council to adopt the environmental vision. This is expected to take place in the fall of 2025.
