Municipality of Aalten starts drafting new environmental vision
The municipality of Aalten will start making a new environmental vision for the entire territory of the municipality in September. The municipality considers it important to do this together with its residents, entrepreneurs and interest groups.
The environmental vision gives direction to the future development of the municipality of Aalten. The vision deals with various topics such as housing, traffic, nature, water, building, economy and agriculture. But also about livability, safety and health. The vision describes which opportunities, tasks and challenges lie ahead for the municipality. Think for example about how we want to live in the future, how we want to grow old healthily, how our children can play carefree, how we get around.
Area-based approach
The municipality does not make the environmental vision behind a desk, but wants to do this together with its residents, entrepreneurs and interest groups. Alderman Erik Groters: "The knowledge about the municipality of Aalten lies primarily with our residents who know their living environment well. We want to include that knowledge in the preparation of our environmental vision. Residents, young and old, now have the opportunity to indicate what they consider important for the future. So I say: make yourself heard and participate!"
The municipality of Aalten has chosen an area-based approach. In consultation with interest groups and others, twelve (sub) areas have been distinguished. In the period from September 2023 to March 2025, three interviews will be held in each area. After all interviews have been completed, it is up to the City Council to adopt the environmental vision. This is expected to happen in the fall of 2025.
