Beautiful Future Festival great success
On Saturday, October 11, 2025 buzzed at the Beautiful Future Festival in the Pol. How can you age healthily and happily in the municipality of Aalten? What will your world and life look like in 2040? That was the theme of this very well-attended event. At the Beautiful Future Market, visitors got answers to these questions.
Councilman Joop Wikkerink opened the first edition of the festival by saying, "Everyone always pretends that the future is going to be doom and gloom with the aging population and the stagnation in elder care. But if you look for other ways of living together, and if you think creatively, a lot is possible." Exactly that atmosphere prevailed at the festival. The hundreds of visitors made many discoveries and were busy talking to each other, doing games and exercise activities.
In a sub room, there were Beautiful Future Sessions all day: the moving documentary The Secret of Aalten, a wonderful performance by Lab2167, educational lectures and laughs about the future with Leo and Gerard.
As we were leaving, we heard an elderly couple say to each other, "If the future can look like this, we do feel like it and have confidence in it."
