New housing agreements made for Aalten for 2025

On Wednesday, December 11, the municipality of Aalten, housing association De Woonplaats, tenants' association Dinxperlo, and tenants' association 't Walfort signed the performance agreements for 2025. The priority for the coming year will be to achieve the previously agreed numbers for housing construction. This will involve concrete projects and research into new locations. Other important themes are making homes more sustainable and facilitating the transition of senior citizens.

Every year, the municipality of Aalten consults with De Woonplaats and tenants' associations about performance agreements. In this agreement, they lay down the plans for housing policy for the coming year.

New construction of social housing

De Woonplaats is actively expanding in Aalten. Last year, 56 new homes Ludgerstraat completed on Ludgerstraat , and the completion of 11 new apartments on Hogestraat is Hogestraat at the end of 2025. The site at Hogestraat , 34a, and 36 was previously occupied by old buildings. Together with the municipality of Aalten, it was therefore decided to demolish the buildings and replace them with a new small-scale apartment complex. This will give a positive boost to the center of Aalten.
Another new construction project is planned on Eerste Broekdijk Aalten. De Woonplaats wants to build 10 sustainable single-family homes on a vacant lot. The vacant office building at Driessenshof will also be converted into six apartments. The plans for this are being further developed, and De Woonplaats hopes to start work on this in the course of 2025.

In addition, new housing locations are part of discussions in 2025 and the parties are jointly investigating the feasibility. Examples are 't Beggelder in Dinxperlo and the Slingeplas in Bredevoort.

Continuing sustainability

The parties have made agreements about making rental properties in Aalten more sustainable. In doing so, they are contributing to combating energy poverty among tenants and reducing CO2 emissions. De Woonplaats is prioritizing making rental properties with an E, F, and G label more sustainable. A major step has already been taken: 5.5% of the homes (130 in total) still have a low energy label. De Woonplaats aims to phase out these energy labels by the end of 2028.

Evaluation flow through seniors

De Woonplaats has started a pilot aimed at moving seniors through. This project is called "Comfortable at Home. This approach was developed within the Achterhoek corporations and is designed to engage in conversation with seniors about their housing situation. People over 65 who leave a single-family home owned by De Woonplaats have the opportunity to move on to senior housing with priority. The goal is that seniors can live independently for longer and single-family homes become available for families. In 2025, the pilot will be evaluated and the corporation wants to follow up on this targeted flow. The municipality follows up on this and also wants to raise awareness among seniors with owner-occupied housing.
