What is it?

For certain activities on or around your house or business premises, you need an environmental permit. For example, if you are building, renovating, demolishing, or want to cut down a tree.

What to do.

Discuss your plans with the municipality in advance. This will help you avoid any surprises. This is called a preliminary consultation. When making your plans, please contact the municipality as early as possible.

  • Check on Omgevingsloket online whether you need an environmental permit.
  • If you need a permit, apply for it through Omgevingsloket online. Do this at least 8 weeks before you want to start the work. For an extensive application, do this at least 6 months in advance.
  • For a comprehensive application, the municipality first prepares a draft decision regarding your application. This draft decision is not yet a final decision. Within 6 weeks, anyone can submit their views on this draft decision. This is referred to as a formal submission of views.
  • If you disagree with the draft decision, please explain your reasons in your submission.
  • You will automatically be notified whether your permit has been granted.

If you are applying for an environmental permit with a construction sum of €500,000 or more, you must also complete a Bibob Act form.

What do I need?

  • If you are applying for an environmental permit for your home, you will need your DigiD.

  • Floor plans of the building (scale 1:100)
  • A site drawing (scale 1:1000 to 1:1500)
  • A drawing of the facade elevations (scale 1:100)
  • cross-sections and longitudinal sections (scale 1:100)
