Like any other municipality, Aalten also has to take all kinds of "puzzle pieces" into account in its environmental vision. For example, Aalten attaches great importance to what makes Aalten unique and therefore determines its identity (also referred to as its "DNA"). This is important to include in the environmental vision. More information about the DNA of Aalten.

A second important starting point for the new environmental vision is the current quality of the living environment. This is currently being mapped out by research agency Royal Haskoning on behalf of the municipality of Aalten and recorded in a "snapshot of the living environment." As soon as this is available, it will be published on this website and included in the discussions about the environmental vision.

In addition, Aalten—like other municipalities—has to implement the policies of other administrative levels (national, provincial, and water board) and has made regional agreements and programswith other municipalities (and sometimes other administrative levels). These must also be included in the environmental vision.

Furthermore, there are all kinds of trends and developments that also affect Aalten and which Aalten must therefore take into account in its environmental vision.

The municipality of Aalten has also committed itself to working towards the United Nations'sustainable development goals(SDGs), so this must also be included in the environmental vision. More information about these sustainable development goals.

And then, of course, the residents of Aalten have their own wishes and preferences when it comes to the future of their living environment. We will Map these wishes and preferences into Map as best we can during the three rounds of discussions, so that we can also include and consider them in the new environmental vision.
