Expansion shelter for Ukrainians in Dinxperlo
The Municipal Executive decided to use the vacant industrial hall at Industriestraat 8A in Dinxperlo for the temporary accommodation of about 70 Ukrainian refugees.
In early September, the industrial building at 8 Industriestraat became available for the temporary shelter of up to 48 Ukrainians. This reception location is now almost full. The need for additional reception places for Ukrainians is still great, also in the municipality of Aalten. The college has therefore decided to also set up the adjacent industrial hall as a temporary reception location. The hall, which has been vacant for some time, will offer accommodation for about 70 Ukrainians after renovation. To do so, the building must first be remodeled. The building is expected to be ready for use by April 1, 2025.
Expansion of municipal shelters
As of November 1, there are 153 municipal reception spaces spread across 16 different locations available in the municipality of Aalten. The municipality faces the task of expanding this number to at least 212 municipal reception places by early 2025.
In a municipal shelter, management and responsibility lies with the municipality. The municipality ensures that the residents have a safe and pleasant reception location. In cooperation with Figulus, Laborijn and various volunteers, among others, the municipality supports them to find their way in Dutch society.
