Expansion shelter for Ukrainians in Dinxperlo
The Municipal Executive has decided to use the vacant industrial building at Industriestraat in Dinxperlo to temporarily house approximately 70 Ukrainian refugees.
At the beginning of September, the commercial property at Industriestraat became available for the temporary accommodation of up to 48 Ukrainians. This accommodation location is now almost full. The need for additional accommodation for Ukrainians remains high, including in the municipality of Aalten. The municipal executive has therefore decided to convert the adjacent industrial building into a temporary shelter. The building, which has been vacant for some time, will be able to accommodate approximately 70 Ukrainians after renovation. The building must first be renovated for this purpose. It is expected to be ready for use by April 1, 2025.
Expansion of municipal shelters
As of November 1, there are 153 municipal shelters spread across 16 different locations available in the municipality of Aalten. The municipality faces the challenge of expanding this number to at least 212 municipal shelters by early 2025.
In a municipal shelter, management and responsibility lies with the municipality. The municipality ensures that the residents have a safe and pleasant reception location. In cooperation with Figulus, Laborijn and various volunteers, among others, the municipality supports them to find their way in Dutch society.
