Mayor Stapelkamp: "I am shocked that someone in our municipality is in possession of such heavy and illegal fireworks and is storing them in a residential home. A cobra has the same power as a hand grenade! Such explosives pose a serious danger to the immediate surroundings. The police have confiscated the fireworks and are conducting a criminal investigation. However, we consider this to be such a serious offense and such a major safety risk that we have decided to impose a so-called penalty payment. If illegal fireworks are found in this man's possession again, it will cost him €4,000 per offense."
