How safe is the municipality of Aalten?
Are you bothered by litter on the street? Nuisance from neighbors or loitering youths? Has your house been broken into? Or do you sometimes see suspicious situations in the neighborhood? These are some of the questions asked in the Safety Monitor to approximately 1,900 residents (sample).

The Safety Monitor is a survey of crime, insecurity, neighborhood problems and the actions of the municipality and police. The survey is conducted at the municipal and national levels. The municipal survey began in August and runs until Oct. 12. We expect the results in March 2026.
Biennial survey
We use the results of this biennial survey (the last time was in 2023) to create new safety policies with activities we deploy for a safe municipality. The research is commissioned by the municipality of Aalten and conducted by Ipsos I&O.
Mayor Anton Stapelkamp stressed the importance of the Safety Monitor:
"It is essential that we know what residents think about safety and livability in our municipality. With that, we can better tailor our policies to their needs and experiences."
It is important that as many of the residents approached as possible take part in the survey: "Only with high participation will a good picture of the security situation in our municipality emerge. Did you receive the Safety Monitor questionnaire and fill it out? Thank you very much!"
